Louth County Council is the authority responsible for local government in Louth. The
county of Louth is divided into the three municipal districts of Drogheda, Ardee and
Dundalk. There are five electoral areas in Louth: Ardee, Drogheda Rural, Drogheda
Urban, Dundalk-Carlingford and Dundalk South. There are 29 elected county
councillors and an annual operating budget of €203.7 million in 2026.
The Council provides a diverse range of services across a large geographic area.
Key services areas include housing delivery, planning and development, emergency
services, infrastructural upgrades and projects (road improvements, public realm),
community services and facilities (community/leisure centres, libraries and parks),
encouraging economic development through FDI (foreign direct investment), and
supporting existing and new business.
An opportunity now exists in Louth County Council for the position of Senior
Executive Architect.
Job Summary/Description:
The Senior Executive Architect will work as part of the Architectural Services team
delivering architectural services to the Local Authority and provide advice and
leadership to the teams. Reporting to a Director of Services, Senior Executive
Officer, Senior Architect, Senior Engineer, or such other designated person(s) as
may be assigned from time to time, the post holder will deliver a programme of
architectural work and provide advice to the Council on all architectural matters.
The Senior Executive Architect may work as part of the multidisciplinary Public
Realm/Town Regeneration team delivering a wide range of public realm and other
key strategic projects within Louth. Reporting to a Director of Services, Senior
Executive Officer, or such other designated person(s) as may be assigned from time
to time, the post holder will deliver a programme of public realm projects. The
programme of work may include responsibility for the development of competitive
funding bids to various funding streams, the formation Town/ Village Renewal
masterplans including Town Centre First plans and support to Town Teams,
construction of key strategic public realm infrastructure, and other public realm/
urban design work, as well as leadership and input to the positive development of
the County and its towns/ villages.
