The EU Directive 2008/96/EC on Road Infrastructure Safety Management (RISM), which is

reflected in Irish law in S.I. 612 of 2021. There are five main requirements of this Directive:

• Network Safety ranking and collision cluster analysis (TII’s HD 15 standard)

• Temporary traffic management (TII’s HD 16 standard)

• Road Safety Inspection ( TII’s HD17 standard)

• Road safety impact assessment (TII’s HD 18 standard)

• Road Safety Audit (TII’s HD 19 standard)

The Regional Road Safety Engineer will be required to assist TII Road Safety in

implementing this directive.
