The General Ledger Manager / Accountant is a key member of the Financial Operations team,
reporting directly to the Financial Operations Controller. The role has primary responsibility for the
General Ledger function and the integrity of financial records, ensuring full compliance with
internal policies, applicable accounting standards and all relevant regulatory requirements.
The GL Manager leads and coordinates period-end close activities, account reconciliations, and
balance sheet governance. Working closely with Finance leadership and cross-functional
stakeholders, the General Ledger Manager provides financial insight, process improvement, and
strong financial governance.
The role plays a key part in maintaining robust financial controls and upholding high standards
of professionalism, integrity, and accountability across financial operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Oversee the management of financial data and journal entries within the SAP General Ledger
(GL).
• Lead the periodic GL close process, including the garage settlement cycle ensuring accuracy
and timely completion.
• Maintain robust accounting controls, including oversight of the chart of accounts and the
development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.
• Manage periodic balance sheet, bank and cash reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy
and compliance.
• Oversee asset accounting and administration of the SAP fixed asset module.
• Manage both domestic and international payment processes including foreign currency
transactions.
• Support tax preparation and compliance activities including PAYE, PRSI and payroll-related
deductions.
• Administer and reconcile credit card incoming payment accounts.
• Oversee bank and cash reconciliation processes.
• Manage accounting activities to vehicle leasing operations.
• Ensure a comprehensive suite of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) is maintained
across all areas.
• Prepare and submit Central Statistics Office (CSO) returns.
• Lead and manage the General Ledger team, providing guidance and oversight.
• Act as a key point of contact for financial institutions.
• Provide accounting support and guidance to various departments across the organisation.
• Assist auditors during internal and external audit processes.
• Assist with SAP system upgrades, enhancements and related financial process
improvements.
• Carry out additional duties and responsibilities as required.
KEY SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
• Must be a professionally qualified Accountant.
• Proficiency in SAP including the Fixed Assets module is desirable.
• Extensive experience in balance sheet reconciliations and fixed asset accounting is essential.
• Experience working within a multinational or publicly listed (PLC) environment is
advantageous.
• Strong working knowledge of IFRS standards, balance sheet reporting and cash flow
reporting.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including PowerPoint.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with strong presentation and communication
skills.
