National Park and Wildlife Services (NPWS) is an executive agency within the Department of

Housing, Local Government and Heritage and is primarily responsible for formulation and

implementation of policy and legislation relating to nature conservation and biodiversity. It

also has responsibility for the protection and conservation of Ireland’s natural heritage and

biodiversity at national government level. NPWS collects, collates and publishes data and

information about nature conservation sites, habitats, species, and other biodiversity-related

matters.

The NPWS are now inviting applications to fill Conservation Ranger vacancies in a number

of nationwide locations. These are full-time roles that are challenging, diverse and

rewarding.

Conservation Rangers work as part of the team of regional NPWS staff who are responsible

for implementing nature policies throughout the country. Much of the Conservation Ranger’s

conservation management, monitoring species and habitats, compliance, and working in co-

operation with the general public.

Successful candidates must have relevant experience in wildlife management or nature

conservation. They must also have good IT and report writing skills with an ability to work on

their own initiative.
