What is the opportunity?
New Ireland have a new opportunity for a Solution Architect to join the Wealth & Insurance delivery teams.
The Solution Architect will take a lead role on the delivery teams, designing solutions that meet our business needs, while also supporting the delivery of these outcomes to our business. As a Solution Architect for the Core technologies team you will take the lead in design of change, upgrades and integration of our Core platforms
In this role your focus will be on midrange technologies and their integration with the wider technology estate and you will be a key member of the Core Technology team that works closely with other Senior Technical/Solutions Architects on principles, standards and roadmaps. You will also contribute to continuous improvements of the wider Technology team.
You will have a combination of technical, solution and inter-personal skills which will be required to translate high level business needs into coherent solutions, communicating these to both senior business and technical owners.
In this role you will:
Contribute to the entire software development life cycle from the initial business requirement phase to deployment and production support
Design, plan and supervise implementations, working with other team members to ensure the solution is robust, efficient and sustainable
Work with New Ireland partners, reviewing their proposals and implementations
Work with New Ireland parent, Bank of Ireland, to ensure solutions are aligned with Enterprise Architecture
Propose technologies, applications & frameworks, working with wider Technology teams to drive continuous improvement in management of change
Represent Technical solutions with New Ireland Security & Architectural governance. Assist business partners in representing Data in Cloud and on premise with New Ireland Data governance
Build sound relationships with all customers both within and outside IT, in particular Business and Product Owners.
Deep understanding of AS400/L400/IBM Series
Liaise with other Solution Architects, PM, Product Owner and Developers to ensure all delivery of robust and high-quality software solutions
Display excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to explain complex problems and solutions to the business including customer management
Conduct research on the latest digital trends, technologies and practices
What will make you stand out?
You will have significant experience working on midrange systems, ideally Life400 on the iSeries platform.
You will have a combination of technical, solution and communication skills which will be required to translate high level business needs into coherent solutions, presenting these to both senior business and technical owners.
You feel comfortable with sophisticated architectures across the domain and with the application considerations of infrastructure and operating system change. You will need to be highly dedicated and able to work optimally both independently and as part of a team.
You should be able to efficiently deliver business outcomes for sustainable technology and operations.
Experience in all or some of the following would be an advantage: Mainframe, AS400, Cobol, SQL development, IBM Websphere & MSP
Sound knowledge of Financial Services Sector
Experience to deliver to tight project timescales
