What is the opportunity?


This role provides a great opportunity to develop an understanding of the Group's consolidated and subsidiary financial reporting process, an understanding of the overall performance and results of the Group, an opportunity to run a set of statutory financial statements from start to finish, and collaborate with various teams across the Group as part of the reporting process.

This is an 18 month fixed term contract


In this role you will:
  • Review of Group consolidation & Deconsolidation adjustments ensuring that they are appropriate and that adequate supporting evidence is maintained on file.

  • Collaborating closely with the divisional financial control teams to ensure that timetable commitments for each reporting cycle/requirement are met and that any issues are appropriately resolved on a timely basis.

  • Preparation and review of the Group and Bank financial statements (Annual Report, Interim Report), subsidiary financial statements and facilitation of the audit process.

  • Provide financial and analytical support as required to the Finance executive management.

  • Preparation and review of required external returns.

  • Ensure high standard of work is deliver to reduce audit issues, errors, restatements etc.

  • Ensure all work of junior staff members is reviewed, regular check-is to ensure timelines are on track.

  • Operation and continuing improvement of the team's Reporting Controls.

  • Drive transformation within the team - look for ways to do things better, collaborate with partners to achieve change.

  • Promote lessons learned on the team -what are we doing well? What could we do better/differently/more efficiently?

  • Provide support as required within the team and other parts of the Group on various Group projects and initiatives

  • Contribute to the determination of appropriate financial control activities to ensure the completeness and accuracy of all financial reporting.

  • Deal with various ad hoc technical issues as they arise and collaborate with Group Accounting Policy Unit as appropriate.

  • Review accounting standards, Company law etc

  • Ensure compliance with Group policies and provide training to team members on relevant topics as required.

  • Ability to work under pressure whilst coordinating a wide range of tasks and inputs from a number of different areas.

  • Ability to review the work of others and provide effective feedback and review comments prior to manager review.

  • Shown problem solving ability and creating efficiencies.

  • Demonstrated experience of developing good professional working relationships with key partners

More about the team:

The role is part of the Group Statutory Reporting team (formerly External Reporting team) within Group Financial Control.

Group Statutory Reporting has responsibility to deliver accurate and timely Group and entity (i.e. Group's holding company) financial information (statutory and management) to internal partners and to fulfil the external reporting requirements of the Group including Interim and Annual Reports and Subsidiary entity financial statements.

The role is to manage key aspects of the Statutory Reporting process and to ensure the delivery of high quality financial information to key partners.
