Job Purpose:


Medical Technologies Department plays a significant role is achieving the IDA Ireland strategic targets. This is reflected in 2021 - 2024 operational target of 80 investments delivering 5,000 jobs. The Medical Technologies Department manages a portfolio of over 100 client sites employing over 49,000 staff. Furthermore, a large proportion of medical technologies clients are located in regional locations (95% of all MedTech jobs are located outside Dublin) with significant capital expenditure and among the highest rates of investment in R&D of any sector. Because of the complex and regulated nature of Medical Technologies the sectors deep linkages to the Irish sub-supply and research ecosystem MedTech investments tend to provide excellent employment and impactful investments in regional locations. This role involves managing a portfolio of MedTech Mid-West clients to win new investment and support the ongoing transformation of their existing Irish operations; It also involves partnering with IDA Ireland’s overseas team to win new Greenfield investments.



Key Tasks:

  • The management of a portfolio of existing clients to identify and win investments that meet the Department targets.

  • Client relationship and portfolio management - actively managing engagement with existing clients and in particular drive the transformation agenda across the four pillars of Innovation, Skills, Digitalisation and Sustainability.

  • The evaluation, preparation and presentation of investment proposals to the IDA Ireland internal Committees for all investment categories.

  • The preparation and presentation of Frameworks and Updates to the Client Development Committee

  • Actively managing the pipeline on Salesforce by maintaining and updating information on opportunities with existing companies, target companies and department contacts.

  • The setup and management of site visits from target companies and senior visiting executives; and providing timely, follow up information following the visits

  • Working with the wider MedTech team to research and develop new sectoral and sub-sectoral strategies that will lead to the growth of the Department’s portfolio.

  • Leading and contributing to the development of new value propositions for individual MedTech sub-sectors and contributing to the development of new and refreshed marketing materials and presentations

  • Supporting executives in Ireland and/or overseas in planning and running of industry networking events and/or attendance/exhibition/representing IDA at conferences

  • Capturing and sharing relevant marketplace sectoral intelligence with the global team to ensure the continuous strengthening of the sectoral strategy of winning new investment opportunities for Ireland

  • Collaborating and proactively work on key new initiatives to assist in the continued growth of the MedTech sector in Ireland

  • Ensuring dignity, respect and equality are applied throughout the organisation and that a work life balance in the workplace is supported as much as possible.

  • Ensuring that continuous learning and development is undertaken through informal and formal learning; and participation in the Performance and Development Process

  • Ensuring that IDA's values of People, Professionalism, Passion for Performance and Public Service are upheld at all times

  • Demonstrating flexibility in undertaking additional tasks as may be assigned.
