At our R&D Shared Engineering Services team in Medtronic we support our R&D partners across multiple Operating Units (OUs) to innovate and design the next generation of medical therapies and devices. Our focus is to enable our R&D teams to operate in a best-in-class R&D environment with a network of R&D laboratories and Customer Innovation Centre (CIC) and to partner with internal and external customers and stakeholders to meet business goals and objectives.

At our state-of-the-art Customer Innovation Centre, our Events Specialists serve as key facilitators, bringing together healthcare professionals and R&D engineers to collaborate on expanding opportunities across new and exciting therapy areas.

A Day in The Life Of:

As an Events Communication Specialist within the R&D Shared Engineering Services team, the successful candidate will support R&D across multiple Operating Units within Medtronic that treat a wide range of disease states, supporting activities such as:

  • Your role will play a pivotal part at the point where Healthcare Professionals meet New Product Development Teams to advance our healthcare solutions.

  • Key liaison between event stakeholders – Offsite stakeholders such as the Operating Unit planning team, Marketing, local cross functional R&D teams, Operations, Facilities, Training & Education (T&E), Finance, Legal & Compliance, etc.

  • Manage the entire life cycle of an event, compliance planning, early reservations/registration, agency fees, no show/cancellation policies, budgets, payments and expenses per regulated financial guidelines.

  • Compile and monitor information and metrics for R&D leadership dashboards/ reports/budgets schedules as necessary.

  • Providing feedback on event performance to Management and play a key role in defining improvements to enhance the customer experience.

  • Ability to multitask and be flexible in a dynamic environment to support wider team needs during peak times.

  • Manage event logistics, such as ground transportation when required.

  • Problem solving and real-time assessment of potential unforeseen events, containment of these events and execution of appropriate countermeasures.

  • Active participation in Functional and Business Meetings.

  • Lead special projects and ad hoc initiatives as assigned with relevant stakeholders.

  • Take an active role in event calendar management and communicate planned visitors to key local stakeholders.

  • Prepares and/or approves all technical and artistic phases of finished promotional material as required.

  • May purchase promotional materials including, but not limited to, displays/signage/pre-packs, promotional printing, coupons, premiums, art, and photography.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Level 8 Degree, with 2-3 years of event planning/management or other relevant experience.

  • Demonstrated expert written and verbal communication skills and ability to network with senior stakeholders both internally and externally.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent verbal, written and presentations skills in English.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with a high degree of initiative and within a team-based environment.

  • Experience on executing on key projects/events within high performing teams.
