Assistant Sustainability Executive

IDA, Dublin

Job Purpose:


Working across IDA Operations teams, with policymakers, industry groups, and the world’s leading companies, to deliver on IDA’s Sustainability goals, IDA’s Climate Action Plan and Ireland’s National Climate Action Plan, Sustainability Department has 3 important goals.

  1. Work across IDA Operations teams to deliver Green Capital and Sustainability investments in supporting clients to improve their environmental impact.

  2. Work closely with policy and regulatory teams in DETE and DECC, and with Industry groups to address and solve industry’s Sustainability challenges.

  3. Work with IDA Corporate Services and Property teams to implement IDA’s Climate Action Plan.

Since 2021, the team has supported 79 Sustainability investments (132% of target) including 31 Green Capital investments with client expenditure of €209 million, to remove 70k tonnes of GHG emissions, worked closely with DETE and DECC to progress the publication of the National Offshore Wind Strategy, DECC RD&I Strategy, the completion of a National Decarbonisation of Industrial Heat Strategy, and has supported the timely delivery of various national policy initiatives including Circular Economy policies, Ireland’s biodiversity Strategy and National Hydrogen Strategy. And in April this year, the team completed IDA’s first ‘whole of business’ Climate Action Plan, with actions and initiatives to be implemented across IDA over the period 2024 – 2029.

Key competencies and responsibilities include

Sales & Marketing

  • Proactively support IDA operations teams to influence the deliver client sustainability investments.

  • Support the development and sharing of knowledge across IDA’s global team

  • Work with colleagues to identify new industry trends and marketing opportunities.

Communications & Personal Effectiveness

  • Strong oral and written communication working with colleagues and clients

  • Support development of proposals to C-Suite clients, IDA Committees, IDA Board and sub-committees.

Knowledge of the Business

  • A developing knowledge of IDA’s Sustainability value propositions.

  • Insight and understanding of transformation and client growth.

  • Experience and exposure to analysing client business plans.

Client Focused Relationship Building

  • Experience supporting and building relationships, and delivering excellent client service

Networking

  • Track record working with other teams in and outside IDA in creative and impactful ways

Negotiating & Influencing

  • Developing experience working with decision makers and stakeholder groups.

Project Management

  • Track record managing competing priorities and work responsibilities.

Additional Requirements:

  • Third level qualification, to a minimum Level 7 on the National Qualification Framework is essential.

  • Technical experience will be an advantage.

  • This role will require international & domestic travel

  • Full driving licence desirable

  • Ability to work well under pressure, to show initiative, to work independently and on occasion to work outside of standard office hours

  • Flexibility and interest in career progression overseas

  • Demonstrated interest in personal development and continuous learning

  • Adherence to Health & Safety legislation to protect and ensure employee safety at all times.
